Dr. Gad - a 35 year old doctor with close ties to the community of resistors led by Autumn, he runs an underground clinic in the desert (that is literally built into the desert floor) and is in a relationship with Aisha, while keeping the extent of his involvement with the rebellion obscured from her.

Andreas Castillo - a 48 year old Peruvian-American pilot whose exuberance and humor offer some levity to the crew of the returned Lazarus Mission (the Peregrine Trinity consisting of him, Merlin and Linin) but a sudden turn in his condition bursts open inconsistencies in narrative concerning the supposedly triumphant mission.

Tucker F. Hartke - the 47 year old billionaire at the head of the Hartke empire whose ambition to be savior of mankind knows no bounds - ethical or otherwise - and who is at all times determined to keep his thumb on the button as he pushes towards his own deification.

Merlin T Nap -  A 58 year old scientist who has dedicated his life to solving the food crisis on a dying Earth before a tragic loss sends him on a mission to another planet. When he returns nearly a decade later, he’s hailed a hero but can’t remember why - or anything else from his extraordinary journey.

Kakoma Ngabi - the 71 year old Ugandan head of the Global Space Force, whose life mission has been to find a new home for earth’s inhabitants in the farthest reaches of space. His decision early into the story upon the return of the Lazarus mission sets everything in motion for the main protagonists.

Lea Linin - a 51 year old Cambodian scientist who operates as the Chief Medical Officer on the Lazarus Mission and returns with Merlin at the start of the story, a close confidant of his, although her specific allegiances only come into full light as the story progresses.

Aisha Ngabi - A tenacious 42 year old Ugandan journalist whose close bond with her father sets her on a quest for answers surrounding the much hailed Lazarus mission - and puts her in the sights of the powerful forces determined to keep prying eyes from looking too closely into it.

Kai Willowtree - the 36 year old Native American VP of Hartke Pharma who has led the rollout of the supposedly world-saving treatment (Chlorofeed) that allows humans to absorb sunlight as energy through their skin, like plants, thus potentially offsetting the food crisis. But her determination to push the next phase through at all costs comes into conflict with unexpected developments in controlling the original inventor of the tech, Merlin Nap.
